New Procedures Announced For High Point AwardsThe Executive Committee has reviewed the process in which members are awarded the yearly high point awards. In the past, the Association has spent quite a bit of money each year for the plaques we give out for the High Point Awards. Each show category has been given a plaque which has reduced the awards importance. This happens especially when an exhibitor only attends one show, wins the class and the championship then during the rest of the show season no participators enter that particular class, so the only exhibitor who showed wins the High Point Award. For the 2011 show year we decided to give the professionals and amateur owners one award. Using Pleasure as an example: one award would be given for Stallions and Colts, One award for Geldings, and one for Mares and Fillies. With this change if a 3 year old Colt were to compete with the Stallions and Colts during the show season they could be the High Point winner of that division. In order to qualify for a High Point Award an exhibitor must compete in a minimum of two shows (participating in the same class) during the same show season. These changes will go into effect beginning with the 2011 show season - starting with the upcoming Gold Cup show in October.
